Building Block

After discovering the beautifully crafted bags of Japanese design company,  Building Block, I had to contact my favourite promoter of independent design, Darkroom and send them some photos of the leather bags. My favourites are the styles constructed by the clever use of wooden hard wear, chunky wooden screws holding the soft leather together. The playful use of proportion in the enlarged leather tassels also add beautiful detail to the bags' simple form.

Currently these bags are only available at wholesale but I very much hope to see them in London soon, hopefully in the Darkroom concept store! http://www.darkroomlondon.com/

The lovely photos are all via the Building Block website: http://www.building--block.com/

A beautiful meeting of interior design, art and antiques.....

Launched at the beginning of November in the centre of Copenhagen, The Apartment is the work of Tina Seidenfaden Busck and Pernille Hornhaver who have made their sensitively restored apartment into a space to bring together and showcase classic design by the likes of Hans Wegner alongside handcrafted quilts, creating an innovative space in flux as new items will be added. Living in London makes it a little hard to visit The Apartment but I hope to see photos of the apartment as it transforms. Hopefully they might put a selection of photos on their website but if not photos of the launch are available here! http://www.rumid.dk/blogs/Sofie-Brunner/the-apartment-koncept-showroom/ Better still if you can read Danish!

For further information on the designwork displayed in the apartment here is their website: http://theapartment.dk/ ( I am very jealous if the staircase on the homepage takes them to the apartment, how beautiful!)

Colour Makes Me Happy....

Now I am starting to ponder different decorating ideas, I am a bit 'Farrow and Balled' out so coming across the tiny shop 'Colour Makes People Happy' located in East Dulwich reassures me that if I wanted to paint a wall bright orange, I could, and with good quality, eco-friendly paint. Colour Makes People Happy sells both paint produced by Dutch company, Dofine and also coloured cable for those who want just a flash of colour.
